Ui-Cha opened August 29, the first day of school! It couldn’t have been better timing; first day of school, first day of business. People passing by were very curious about the new cuisine; after all it is totally unique to campus. I must have explained what pho is 50 times but I was excited to let everyone know what it is and encourage them to try it.
On the second day Felix and I served iced coffee samples in the commons. People were flagging us down to get a sample so I think it’s safe to say it was a success!
Over the next few days my fellow marketing team members and I started asking people we saw eating pho for testimonials, all of which were positive. People said it was “good, great, and authentic.” But the best compliment we received was repeat customers. There are already students and community members eating at Ui-Cha on a weekly basis.
The Facebook Promotion
We ran a promotion for people who liked us on Facebook or followed us on Twitter to receive a free bowl of pho. Who doesn’t like free food? We nearly tripled our Facebook likes in three weeks!
Things are pretty crazy at Ui-Cha and we have a lot of ideas for the future. Next on the agenda is the coffee club.
